Researchers at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) reported a method for determining the phase state of individual nano scale air bubbles and liquid droplets. The project was conducted in collaboration with Revalesio scientists, who co-authored the paper. The publication demonstrates the grafting of a surface with a dye whose color is sensitive to its local environment. Placing morphologically similar nanobubbles and oil droplets on top of the dye reveals their content, confirming that nanobubbles are indeed gas-filled, which had been in question.
